Medieval Age Room

Soy sauce art gained renewed recognition during the Middle Ages as a similar technique to the popular “Sumi-e” (Ink wash painting). Many soy sauce paintings remain from this time.
Because of its subtleness, however, soy sauce art became all but forgotten during and after the golden age of decorative art in the Momoyama era, all the way up to the rise of ukiyo-e in the Edo period.
